The Tragically Hip Goes Green in Alberta
Calgary concert will be bullfrogpowered™
Calgary, July 11, 2007 — Canadian music legends The Tragically Hip will reduce the environmental footprint of their July 15 concert at Calgary’s Saddledome by powering their event with carbon-free wind-generated electricity from Bullfrog Power™.
Bullfrog Power, which launched its service to Alberta residential and business customers on June 5, 2007, will green The Tragically Hip concert by injecting onto the Alberta power grid an amount of locally produced, emissions-free electricity equal to that used by the event. The Tragically Hip have also bullfrogpowered many of their recent concerts in Ontario, where Bullfrog Power is also available. “I've always considered the environment as something of an underdog,” says Gord Downie, lead vocalist with The Tragically Hip. “Now, with Bullfrog Power, we have a new way to help out that underdog.”
“The Tragically Hip are musical and environmental innovators,” says Theresa Howland, Vice President, Western Region, Bullfrog Power. “More and more, musicians and event organizers want to reduce the environmental impact of their shows. Choosing green, carbon-free electricity from Bullfrog Power is one easy, practical way to do that.”
Bullfrog Power, a leading Canadian provider of 100 per cent green electricity, is the only carbon-free power choice available to virtually all Albertans without switching their electricity provider or retailer.
Becoming bullfrogpowered™ is a meaningful, practical way for businesses, homeowners and event producers in Alberta and Ontario to take personal action to address climate change and help create a cleaner, healthier environment for their children, their community and future generations.
