Flexahopper Plastics is bullfrogpowered™
Molding and plastics manufacturer chooses green power
Calgary, March 11, 2008 — Bullfrog Power™, a leading Canadian provider of 100 per cent green electricity, today announced that Flexahopper Plastics, an international molding and plastics manufacturer, has agreed to purchase clean, renewable power for its headquarters in Lethbridge, Alberta. Flexahopper is currently the largest manufacturer on the bullfrogpowered Green Index.
“As an Alberta-based company operating in an international marketplace, Flexahopper takes seriously our responsibility to help reduce the global environmental impact of our industry,” said Bill Spenceley, President and CEO, Flexahopper Plastics. “By using green electricity from Bullfrog Power, we are reducing our environmental footprint and supporting the new generation of renewable energy in the province.”
Flexahopper’s focus on environmental stewardship is evident throughout its operations. The company recovers exhaust gas to heat water for the plant’s heating system, which reduces energy costs during winter months. Skylights have allowed Flexahopper to take advantage of natural light, further reducing the company’s overall energy use. Regular equipment audits are conducted to optimize performance efficiency. The company is purchasing green power in Alberta to further its environmental efforts.
“As our first Alberta manufacturer, we are very pleased that Flexahopper Plastics has decided to green its operations by bullfrogpowering its Alberta location,” said Theresa Howland, Vice President, Western Region, Bullfrog Power. “Flexahopper joins a group of industry leaders that are taking practical steps toward reducing the environmental footprint of their organizations.”
