Everyone uses electricity in their daily lives and business operations – regardless of whether or not they pay for electricity directly. Bullfrog customers, regardless of how they are billed, are people who have made the choice to ensure that clean, renewable power is being produced on their behalf.
When you sign up with Bullfrog Power, your dollars support 100% wind power generated right here in Alberta. All of our Alberta wind power generation sites have met the environmental criteria of Environment Canada’s EcoLogoM certification process. Plus, by choosing Bullfrog, you will also be doing your part to support Alberta’s growing renewable power industry.
How it works
Choosing green is a breeze with Bullfrog Power’s green electricity options. When you sign up with Bullfrog Power, you don’t need to switch electricity suppliers. Even homes that never receive an electricity bill at all can sign up for Bullfrog Power.
If your home is separately metered, with your permission, we will request your usage information from your current electricity provider to determine how much power your home consumes.
If usage information is not available because:
- We cannot access meter information from your provider; or
- your home isn’t separately metered; or
- you don’t receive an electricity bill at all (like many apartment residents)
simply select the average for your residence type in our signup area or enter your own estimated usage. It’s easy!
Bullfrog will then inject green electricity onto the grid on your behalf to match the amount of power your home uses. You continue to pay for your basic electricity service through your usual payment channel, and receive a separate bill from Bullfrog for the greening of your power supply. And because you continue drawing power from the grid in the same way, there is no change in service reliability.
How much does Bullfrog Power cost?
Bullfrog Power costs 2 cents per kilowatt hour, which for the typical Alberta house, adds about 50 cents a day to your overall electricity costs – a small price to pay to make a big difference. Many Bullfrog Power customers implement a few extra energy efficiency measures around the home after signing up with us to help offset the additional cost.
What happens after I sign up?
Bullfrog will start injecting 100% made-in-Alberta wind power onto the provincial electricity grid on your behalf. We will then send you a welcome kit with a variety of handy items, including special home identifiers, which you may use to share the news with your neighbourhood, friends and family that you are a bullfrogpowered home!
