What Geoff Stanley is doing for Energy Conservation Week:

"The same thing I always do! I walk/run/bike pretty much everywhere I go. With the onset of summer I'm trying my hand at a backyard vegetable garden and tackling the 100-mile diet. I conserve energy everywhere inside the house.… I’m mindful of my water use in the shower too. It’s easier than you think to conserve water."

Energy Conservation Week Edition

nergy Conservation Week

Ontario’s first annual Energy Conservation Week, May 25-31, is about the power of collective action. By working together, Ontarians can create the culture of conservation we’ll need to reach energy conservation goals.

We’ve published this special Ontario edition of the e-buzz to mark this week-long event and to recognize some of our residential and commercial customers who take steps every day to conserve energy.

EnWise Power Solutions and Bullfrog Power team up to support energy efficiency and green power
Bullfrog Power and EnWise Power Solutions
Bullfrog and EnWise handed out 3,000 compact fluorescent light bulbs at Union Station on May 26 to encourage home energy efficiency and to promote this new partnership.

To mark Energy Conservation Week in Ontario, Bullfrog Power and EnWise Power Solutions have announced a partnership to make it easier for homeowners to reduce their home energy use and support renewable power.

Bullfrog’s residential customers often ask us for tips about how to use less electricity in their homes. Reducing your home’s electricity bill through improvements in energy efficiency will help you afford the additional cost of purchasing green power. It’s a win for conservation, a win for the customer and a win for the environment.

  Calling all Bullfrog Street Ambassadors

Green StreetBullfrog is looking for green power ambassadors for a contest we’ll be launching this summer. We’re looking for people who are passionate about renewable power and want to help spread the word to their neighbours and friends. It's easy. It's fun. And it won't take too much of your time. If this is you, we want to hear from you!

While we can’t divulge details of the contest just yet, we can tell you that it’s about the power of collective action. We want to celebrate how a small group can make a big splash in the green power pond.

Sarah is the family’s chief environmentalist and conservation efforts were practiced throughout the wedding celebration. Congratulations to Sarah and Paul!

Bartlett Lodge - five year plan

Bartlett LodgeMarilyn and Kim Smith, owners of Bartlett Lodge in Algonquin Provincial Park, recently announced a plan to make Bartlett Lodge energy self sufficient. The endeavour begins with a five-year plan to increase the number of solar energy heating systems on the property. The Smiths will also install wood and propane heating systems in the cabins currently tied to the grid, and any extra power generated through the solar systems will be sold back to Ontario’s grid through the OPA’s Standard Offer Program.

  Despina Zanganas wins
“Green Power for a Year”

Despina Zanganas wins “Green Power for a Year” Despina Zanganas has won “Green Power for a year” after participating in the bullfrogpowered Passport Program at this year’s Toronto Green Living Show. Congratulations, Despina!

Despina told us about her current conservation efforts at home: “I recently completed a renovation on my home, so I used that opportunity to make my home as energy efficient as possible. I replaced my appliances with Energy Star™ models and installed new windows. I also use a programmable thermostat to control how much energy I use in the winter and summer.”

  Ginette Davies St-Germain

Ginette Davies St-GermainGinette shared her conservation story on our page on Facebook:

“My family is actively turning off the lights during times we would normally have them on, such as during breakfast; when folding laundry in the living room or prepping for meals. We are used to having more light in these situations, but I’m hoping to teach my children that the sun really provides enough. I’d like to curb their habit of always turning on the light as we enter a room.”
